Bread Machine Caraway-Rye Bread
Rye bread lovers, we didn't forget you. This light rye has the added bonus of nutty-flavored caraway seed. And, there's a tasty chive-Swiss spread, too!
Ingredients
Bread
- 1cup plus 3 tablespoons water
- 1tablespoon butter or margarine, softened
- 2 1/2cups Gold Medal™ Better for Bread™ flour
- 3/4cup rye flour
- 2tablespoons instant nonfat dry milk
- 2tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2teaspoons salt
- 3/4teaspoon caraway seed
- 2 1/4teaspoons bread machine or quick active dry yeast
Chive-Swiss Spread
- 1package (3 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 2tablespoons milk
- 1/2cup finely shredded aged Swiss cheese (2 oz)
- 1tablespoon chopped fresh chives.
Steps
- 1Measure carefully, placing all bread ingredients in bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer.
- 2Select Basic/White cycle. Use Medium or Light crust color. Remove baked bread from pan; cool on cooling rack.
- 3In small bowl, mix cream cheese and milk until blended. Stir in Swiss cheese and chives. Serve spread with bread. Store spread in refrigerator.
